Griquas first in Inland’s campaign

KIMBERLEY is the first port of call for the KZN Inland side as they begin their season with a three-day clash at the De Beers Oval against Griquas today.

The three-day clash is followed by a T20 match between the two sides on Sunday.

A balanced, talented side have been named by coach Grant Morgan, led by the nuggety Shane Burger who has been a stalwart in the side in past seasons.

The side see some experience and youth, the platform being provided for some talented youngsters to get a decent dose of first class cricket under the belt, always an advantage in moving up the ranks to the senior Dolphins side.

With that in mind, it’s interesting to see Imraan Khan at the top of the order, the Dolphins stalwart vital to the success of the team. With more than 120 first class matches to his credit, he is capable of digging in on the day and providing much needed stability at the top of the order.

Kyle Nipper is another who has had a few outings for the Dolphins, as has promising youngster Sarel Erwee. Nic Hendrie is a solid batsman and with fellow youngsters Matt Hullett and Matt Pillans in the ranks, this is a side oozing enthusiasm and hunger.

Inland Squad: Shane Burger (capt), Kyle Nipper, Imraan Khan, Abram Ndhlovu, Mbasa Gqadushe, SJ Erwee, Suhail Razack, Matt Hullett, Ruhan Pretorius, Graham Hume, Abul-Haq Razk, Matt Pillans, Cyril Mthimkhulu, Attie Maposa, Nic Hendrie.
