Grisly find at Edendale dump site

2013-01-21 00:00

TWO unidentified women were found murdered near the dumpsite on the Edendale Road yesterday morning.

Police spokesperson Joey Jeevan told The Witness that a security guard found the women while on his way home after finishing his shift just before 7 am.

“One woman [about 25] was wearing blue jeans, a brown shirt and black sandals. She was slender, medium in complexion with long extensions in her hair,” said Jeevan.

“The other woman [about 30] had a short blue floral dress with a waistcoat and is stocky in build. She also had long extensions in her hair and was not wearing any shoes.”

The women were found within metres of each other on the road next to the rubbish dump, and both had deep cuts to their foreheads and heads.

Jeevan said one of the women was last seen in a tavern in the city at around 4 pm on Saturday.

“The murders could have happened in the course of the night. They also could have happened elsewhere and the bodies could have been dumped there.

“There is also the possibility that they could have been raped,” she said.

She appealed to anyone who could help the police identify the women, or supply any other information about the crime, to call Warrant Officer Bheki Langa at 033 845 7724 or 078 712 4199.
