Guy’s summer tour

2010-02-12 00:00

YOUNG, talented and hardworking, Guy Buttery deserves the attention he is receiving at the moment.

The lateral-thinking guitarist has had to squeeze in gigs in his home town amid a bustling schedule of international events.

Since the release of his third album, Fox Hill Lane, the response Buttery has received for what he believes to be his most mature album to date, has been great to see. Local and international reviews have praised both the musicality and production of the 14-track album. Each of these reflects an intimate portrayal of Buttery’s personal and musical journey since his previous album Songs from the Cane Fields.

Buttery has been invited to collaborate on a world music project in Mauritius with acclaimed artists Eric Triton and Alhousseini (from Niger’s Etran Finatawa) and will be representing South Africa at Toulouse’s Rio Loco festival in France in a few months time.

This month, however, he returns to the province of his musical birth. “The landscape of KwaZulu-Natal has consistently played a big role in inspiring many of my compositions and will always be considered home to me,” Buttery says.

Fox Hill Lane and his sophomore release Songs from the Cane Fields will be on sale at all the shows.
