HIV: ‘champion’ VIPs gather

2010-03-08 00:00

MEMBERS of the South African National Aids Council (Sanac) and political leaders met at the Royal Showgrounds on Friday.

Chaired by Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe, the meeting was attended by members of the Provincial Aids Council and the former presidents of Botswana and Mozambique, Festus Mogae and Joaquim Chissano.

The meeting formed part of a two-day visit aimed at affording the Champions, of which Mogae is the chair, the opportunity to see the province’s response to HIV and Aids and TB.

Mogae said the visit was inspiring. “We have met many ‘champions’ who work hard every day in this struggle against HIV and Aids.”
