Harry Gwala to host final of Schools Soccer

2014-05-06 00:00

THE final of the Nashua Maritzburg United High Schools Soccer Challenge will take place under the floodlights at Harry Gwala Stadium tonight.

As many as 16 schools from Pietermaritzburg and the Midlands entered the knock-out competition in March looking to win the second edition of what has become the region’s premier school soccer tournament, and the final this evening will be contested between last year’s winners Mehlokazulu Secondary and Sobantu Secondary.

Both sides have played entertaining football throughout the tournament, and the final is set to be an entertaining affair on a night when the players will experience what it is like to play on the same pitch as United’s PSL team.

Today will also see the third/fourth place play-off between losing semi-finalists Carter High and Alexandra High take place. Entry to both matches is free.
