Hayfields: ‘developer clearing alien plants’

2011-09-22 00:00

SSI Engineers and Environmental Consultants and Stowell Co. have defended their client, T. Christodoulou and Sons, for clearing alien plants at 27 Blackburrow Road, Hayfields.

SSI Engineers town planner Andrew Schultz said: “We understand that there is an appeal in place and that the client has to abide by it …” But, he added, the site “is actually his piece of land and there is nothing illegal about his actions …

“Until the appeal is finalised there will not be any commencement of the Hayfields Superspar construction and our client is aware of that.”

He said the site has become overgrown.

A representative of Stowell and Co., Paul Firman, said their client is participating in the appeal process and only clearing alien weed, not indigenous plants, on his own property.
