PORT Shepstone SAPS are investigating a culpable homicide docket after a 22-year-old biker died in a motor vehicle collision yesterday morning.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said the biker was travelling north when he collided with a car travelling in the oncoming lane.

“The bike caught fire and the biker died on impact when he was flung from the motorcycle,” said Wiid.

She said the victim had not been burnt in the accident.

Netcare 911’s Chris Botha said the bike burst into flames and came to rest about 10 metres away from the point of impact.

“Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and after assessing the critically wounded man, found that he had tragically died due to the extensive injuries that he sustained in this horrific accident,” said Botha.

The deceased’s name had not been released at the time of going to press.
