Head to Game to change your gifts

2014-01-02 00:00

IF someone was kind enough to give you a gift that you don’t really like that much –– fret not, there is hope.

If the present is still intact –– whether opened or inside your Christmas gift bag –– you can take it to a Game store in exchange for a voucher that will give you the opportunity to buy something you really want.

The store makes the bold promise that they will take anything back — whether bought at their store or not — but it must be something similar to what they stock and the packaging must be intact.

Game store manager Kevin Singarum at Gateway Mall said there were customers who won “expensive fridges” in a competition recently but all the three fridges were returned because these winners simply didn’t have a need for them.

Singarum told The Witness that they haven’t been receiving a huge volume of “unwanted gifts”.

But of those returned, dinner sets seem to be the least favourite gift.

Among others are books, toys, camping chairs, bikes, kettles and irons.

People are also selling their unwanted gifts on Gumtree including phones, pots — and even a Hannah Montana lip gloss, which is going for R35.
