Health silent over amputated leg

2014-11-21 00:00

THE Department of Health has failed to contact the family of the woman who pleaded for her amputated leg to be released to her for burial.

Yesterday, The Witness ran a story about Asim Kara, the Muslim man who felt his right to religion was violated when Grey’s Hospital would not release his elderly mother’s amputated leg back to the family for burial.

Kara told The Witness yesterday “he hoped for something to be done, but nobody [from the Department of Health had] even called” him.

The department had still not responded to the article by the time of going to press.
