Heatwave: not unusual

2010-09-02 00:00

THE heatwave experienced over the past few days is not unusual for this time of year.

Said Wisani Maluleke of the SA Weather Office, “When you have a change of season it seems like it’s hotter than usual, but this is normal for this time of year.”

Pietermaritzburg temperatures were among the hottest in the province over the past few days with maximums reaching 31,5°C on Sunday, 35,8°C on Tuesday and yesterday’s temperatures up to 35°C.

The next two days promise some relief with temperatures in the low twenties, but warm conditions are expected once again at the end of the week.
