TWO of the men that were involved in one of the robberies in the city that took place on Wednesday were arrested yesterday after the police received a tip-off on their whereabouts.

On Wednesday, there were house robberies at P. Smith Road, Ashburton; Hayfields; Dunsby Avenue, Lincoln Meade; Alexandra Road Extension in Bisley, where a woman was killed.

The police said the two men, who were arrested in Dussale centre, at the Plessislaer Policing precinct on Thursday, had been positively linked to the house robbery at Dunsby Avenue, Lincoln Meade.

It was reported that four men had held up a gardener, only known as Ashruf (20), at gunpoint and forced the domestic worker Nosingile Pina (41) to open the sliding door.

The men thereafter forced Pina into the bathroom and one of the suspects watched over her. The other men, together with the gardener, went to the main bedroom, where they removed two safes containing jewellery, cash and a digital camera.

Some of the items have been recovered by the police.

Police spokesman Thulani Zwane said: “A safe, various jewellery and cash to the value of R12 000 were recovered at the premises. We are still searching for the gardener, who will be able to assist with the investigation.”

He said the police expect to make more arrests soon.
