High rainfall sees low scores at Majola Week

2013-12-17 00:00

LOW scores were the order of the first day of the Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Cricket Week in and around Durban yesterday. Only four teams managed to score more than 150 runs in their innings. Two teams — Easterns and Namibia — managed victories, with the high rainfall over the past few days and overcast conditions contributing to the low scores.

Three bowlers — Sohail Mahmoud (KwaZulu-Natal Inland), Lance Humphrey (Easterns) and Tim Niemand (Border) — took five wickets.

Seamer Humphrey had the best bowling figures in his team’s victory over Limpopo, taking 5/24 as Limpopo tumbled to 76 in their first innings.

Leg-spinner Mahmoud’s (5/64) performance came against Gauteng.
