Hijacked: bogus client steals delivery bakkie

2009-03-12 00:00

A Pietermaritzburg delivery man was hijacked by a man posing as a client this week.

Musawakhe Ngcobo (24), self-employed, is looking for his Nissan Hardbody bakkie (NP 31379), after it was hijacked at gunpoint in the Esigodini area on Tuesday afternoon.

Inspector Clifford Dyssell is appealing for information regarding the hijacking — phone him at 033 398 9714 or 083 275 5596.

Senior Superintendent Henry Budhram said Ngcobo was approached by a man who hired him to transport furniture from Esigodini to the city. He gave Ngcobo directions to a house in Esigodini to fetch the furniture, but at the house, he went to make a phone call and then told Ngcobo to drive towards town.

On the way, the man drew a gun and fired twice, missing Ngcobo, who stopped the bakkie and fled, leaving behind his wallet with his driver’s licence and R500 in cash.
