Hijacked woman feared dead

WHILE uMlazi man Blessing Ngubane is in a Durban hospital recovering from gunshot wounds, police are conducting a massive search for his girlfriend,

Makhosi Msele, who was kidnapped during a hijacking on Tuesday night. There are fears that Msele could have been killed by the hijackers.

The couple were driving through uMlazi’s S Section when they were accosted by two armed men. One men got into the driver’s seat of the Volvo and drove towards the N2 near Isipingo. The two, believed to be in their early twenties, were carrying handguns. Msele was in the back with one of the hijackers.

Police spokesman Superintendent Buhle Ngidi said Ngubane tried to escape from the moving vehicle, but was shot by one of the suspects.

“He told us he was scared that he was going to die so he tried to jump from the moving vehicle. He was shot in the shoulder and the chest,” he said.

Ngidi said the suspects drove off, thinking Ngubane was dead.

The injured Ngubane managed to get to the Metro Police station on Old Main Road near Isipingo where he got help.

Ngubane is said to be in a critical condition in a local hospital

Ngidi said police are searching for Msele, but have very little to go on as Ngubane was not able to provide them with information on her.

“Ngubane is in a bad state and cannot furnish us with details … We know that he is from uMlazi, but don’t know where she is from,” he said.
