Hilton: Truckload of Pigs get help

2013-02-06 00:00

A TRUCKLOAD of pigs was stranded for around two hours on Monday night when they slid into a heap as the truck they were being transported in went up a steep hill.

A bystander at the scene said it appeared the driver, who is believed to have been lost, was driving the livestock truck up Old Howick Road, near Hilton. Due to the incline and the fact that the pigs were standing on a slippery wet surface, the pigs slid back, landing on top of each other.

The screams of the pigs were audible over the phone when the bystander called The Witness from the scene.

Only one pig was injured. The animals were finally assisted and the truck continued its journey.
