Hilton out to halt run of defeats

2012-04-28 00:00

WHILE the state schools enjoy a long weekend, the independent schools are playing interschool matches at two venues today, both in the Midlands.

Hilton host Kearsney  in what promises to be a hard-fought match. Hilton have already played 11 games while Kearsney have played nine, but neither have yet played a common school.

Kearsney, so often the top school in the Coastal zone, could well be challenged this year by steadily improving Glenwood and Westville. Last Saturday Glenwood beat Hilton and Westville beat Michaelhouse.

That loss will have made Hilton more determined to do well today on their home patch and this could lead to Kearsney losing their second match.

Their only loss was against Dale from King William's Town.

Hilton have lost five matches and they will not relish losing many more. The match should be keenly contested in a match of some fine hockey.

St Charles travel to Michaelhouse and the Maritzburg lads will likely struggle against a side that was unfortunate to lose against Glenwood last Saturday. St Charles were well beaten by Kearsney last time out and they will do well to keep the score close.
