Two men found to have been hired to murder a supervisor at Goswell Developments Aluminium at Cato Ridge in June 2005, have been sentenced to 25 years’ imprisonment by Acting Judge Ravi Padayachee in the Pietermaritzburg High Court.

Mfundo Shezi (21) of uMsunduzi, and Khehla Zaca (29), of Table Mountain, were convicted of the murder of Jeffrey Ndlovu (45), who was shot dead on his way to work on the morning of June 28, 2005. The court found that Shezi and Zaca were the actual assassins who fired the shots with a home-made shotgun and a .38 revolver.

The man who allegedy recruited them, Louis Sibisi, has since died. The motive for the murder remains unclear.

Shezi and Zaca escaped life sentences as the court found that there were good prospects for their rehabilitation.
