Hockey: SA thrashed by top teams

The world’s 13th-ranked SA lost 7-3 to Olympic Games and World Cup champions Germany before going down 4-2 to fourth-ranked Netherlands.

The teams are in camp at University of Free State’s superb hockey facility in preparation for the World Cup in India next month.

Germany led SA 2-1 at half-time before bagging five more after the change-over. Justin Reid-Ross (2) and Paul Blake scored SA’s goals against Germany, while Reid-Ross and Wade Paton got on to the scoresheet against Netherlands.
