Hockey: all eyes on SA women

COACH Jenny King and the Spar SA women’s hockey team get the chance to pit their skills against Canada in a three-Test series that starts at 4 pm today.

The second and third Tests at the excellent Absa Tshwane University of Technology Hockey Stadium in Pretoria take place at 4 pm tomorrow and 10.30 am on Sunday.

SA’s opponents are at 22 in the world rankings and the 12th-placed South Africans will have a chance to work on their scoring opportunities given the extra space and time available for Captain Marsha Marescia and her team.

•JONATHAN COOK will report for The Witness and Weekend Witness from Randburg next week on the Spar Cup Tri Nations women’s hockey series between South Africa, Russia and Canada.
