HOLIDAYMAKERS booking places for late December or January are advised to make reservations through local tourism offices or reputable agents.

Said Michael Bertram, CEO of South Coast Tourism: “A family’s holiday is ruined every year, mainly from Internet bookings.”

A web page or advert is set up with information and pictures and money is deposited, but when the family arrive, the place is booked and owned by someone else. “… The scammer sounds so convincing and the procedure is so legit that people think they have had a bargain of a lifetime.”
