Home valuation: Appeal system now in place

2012-09-11 00:00

RESIDENTS in the province will now be able to lodge an appeal should they not be happy with the valuation of property by the municipality.

The Development Appeals Tribunal has been established after the appointment of a team of experts by Cogta MEC Nomusa Dube.

The Tribunal comes as a result of the KZN Planning and Development Act, which came into effect in 2010.

“We are pleased … parties who wish to dispute municipal ratings on properties may now have an avenue to appeal with the provincial government for those decisions to be reviewed,” said Dube.
