A special task team is investigating the Shoprite hostage drama that claimed the lives of three robbers and a store manager, but the two robbers who got away have not yet been apprehended.

Five armed men held up staff and customers at the Montclair Shoprite on Thursday afternoon. They opened fire on police and manager Krish Pillay and three of the gang were killed.

Police spokesman Superitendent Vincent Mdunge said police are confident the suspects will be linked to other robberies.

The store will reopen today after staff underwent trauma counselling yesterday.
