Hot on the box

THE second season of M-Net Action’s sci-fi series Sanctuary gets underway at 7 pm on Thursday, November 11 on DStv channel 106.

The series follows 157-year-old scientist, Helen Magnus (Amanda Tapping of Stargate fame), and her Sanctuary team — daughter Ashley (Emilie Ullerup), protege Will Zimmerman (Robin Dunne), Henry Foss (Ryan Robbins), and the aptly named “Bigfoot” (Christopher Heyerdahl) — as they seek out extraordinarily-powered creatures and people, known as Abnormals.

The Sanctuary is fighting a sinister group called the Cabal which captures, studies, and experiments on Abnormals, who they believe pose a threat to the human species. At the end of the first season, the Cabal tested a small amount of a biological weapon named Lazarus that caused all types of Abnormals to become extremely violent and then die painfully. They also kidnapped Ashley and intend using her to attack the Sanctuary network.

Will Magnus be able to get her daughter back and thwart the Cabal? You’ll have to watch to find out.
