How to buy World Cup tickets in fifth phase

2010-04-13 00:00

THE fifth and final phase of Fifa 2010 World Cup ticket sales will begin on Thursday, and will see about 500 000 tickets for 63 matches on sale to the public.

South Africans will be able to apply and pay for their tickets at all local First National Bank (FNB) branches, and will know immediately whether or not their applications are successful.

Head of FNB 2010 FWC Marketing Communication, Vicke Trehaeven, said application forms for tickets will be available at around 600 FNB branches countrywide.

“On each application form is a barcoded card. Once payment has been made and the form has been completed, applicants will be able to take this card to one of the Fifa ticketing offices and exchange it for their tickets.”

The nearest ticket offices to Pietermaritzburg are at Suncoast Casino in Durban and the Gateway mall in Umhlanga. However, Trehaeven said people who live far from one of the 11 offices need not worry.

“Once a person has paid for their ticket at an FNB branch, that ticket belongs to them. They will be able to collect their ticket at any time from a ticketing office in whatever host city they will be visiting.”

Tickets will be available from any FNB branch from 9 am on Thursday. Be sure to take cash for the ticket/s (credit card payments are not accepted) as well as your ID book. To purchase tickets telephonically, or for more information, call 083 123 2010.
