2011-02-09 00:00

THE CASE of two men charged with the murder of a 52-year-old man from Howick was yesterday postponed to February 15 and the suspects were remanded in custody.

Shakeen Beharilal (28) and Travis Jaggernath (29) were taken back to the holding cells in Howick police station to wait for their next appearance at the Howick Magistrate’s Court. They were arrested on Saturday afternoon in connection with the murder of Dayanand Hethor, whose body was found on Saturday morning with stab wounds all over it. It is believed that he was killed on Friday night.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joey Jeevan said police are still investigating.

The Witness understands that a 16-year-old was taken in for questioning but later released.

The deceased’s body was found in a Howick West field by people walking to a community hall to register as voters.
