Howick: rape accused in court

2010-12-22 00:00

A MAN appeared in court in Howick yesterday in connection with an incident at the weekend in which a woman was allegedly attacked as she arrived home at night at Rosetta and was allegedly robbed, kidnapped and raped.

Police said the woman’s life was probably saved by the fact that she managed to take her cellphone with her when her abductor put her into the boot of her car and drove her to Bruntville near Mooi River.

While in the boot she SMSed police and gave them directions to where she thought she was being taken.

The suspect (23) has not yet been asked to plead to any charges.

He was remanded in custody and his bail application will be heard on January 7.
