Howick: ‘stolen goods’ by the ton

2012-07-17 00:00

FOUR men have been arrested in Howick after being found with truckloads of suspected stolen goods, police said yesterday.

“Police were conducting intelligence driven operations in the area when they were led to a house on Midmar road,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant Vincent Mdunge.

“On arrival at this address, police found four men loading two trucks with a consignment of property including television sets, fridges, blankets and other household appliances,” said Mdunge.

When questioned by the police, they could not provide a proper account of the goods they were loading, only saying they were delivering it to Malawi.

“All four men were taken to the police station for questioning and further investigations, which led to another house where police found 14 bicycles, lawn mowers, TV sets, home theatre systems and other appliances, including microwave ovens and speakers,” Mdunge said.

All suspects will appear in Howick Magistrates’ Court soon on charges of possession of suspected stolen property.
