IFP launches probe into national chairperson’s unauthorised address

THE Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) has launched an investigation to find out under which auspices a meeting addressed by IFP national chairperson Zanele Magwaza-Msibi at the weekend was held.

Magwaza-Msibi addressed a closing meeting of the 16 Days of Activism Against Women and Child Abuse campaign held at Durban’s Albert Park, which was attended by mostly people who had been expelled from the IFP and who are supporters of an IFP-linked group called the “Friends of VZ Magwaza-Msibi.”

The embattled IFP national chairperson attended this meeting less than week after the IFP ordered her to refrain from attending any gathering of the party and also stripped her of her four IFP-issued bodyguards and a car.

IFP national organiser Albert Mncwango confirmed to The Witness yesterday that the IFP has launched an investigation into this controversial meeting, where Magwaza-Msibi defiantly said she is not going allow the IFP to keep her under “house arrest”.
