IPL: Deccan Chargers fall just short as Shane Warne puts on a royal show

2010-04-06 00:00

SHANE Warne inspired the Rajasthan Royals to an epic two-run win over the Deccan Chargers yesterday.

Warne grabbed career-best figures of four for 21 as the Royals held off a strong Deccan batting line-up to squeak home by just two runs.

The Royals batted first, with Shane Watson’s 58 off 36 balls crucial to their total of 159 all out.

In reply, the Chargers looked well on their way until the wickets of Adam Gilchrist (34) and Rohit Sharma (73) fell, and the Warne show got going.

The Royals skipper ran through the Deccan middle order and ultimately won the match for his team.

Rajasthan Royals 159 (Watson 58, Fazal 36, RP Singh 3-17) beat Deccan Chargers 157 (Rohit 73, Warne 4-21) by two runs.
