‘Idols’: KZN behind its rising star

2014-11-22 00:00

FROM the rough and wet streets that he lived on in Johannesburg, Vincent Bones’s pleasant-sounding voice sang its way to the top keeping many Idols fans glued to their TV sets.

Now, Pietermaritzburg’s singing star is on the verge of making the city and KwaZulu-Natal proud. The talent of KZN contestants is no stranger in the competition as Durban’s Khaya Mthethwa emerged victorious in 2012’s edition.

Emotions will run high at Carnival City when Bones and Nelspruit’s Bongi Silinda face off in a dramatic finalé tomorrow night.

As #TeamVincent and #TeamBongi fans gear up, Maritzburg’s Eagle Christian Church, where Bones was a choir leader, will gather at the church and watch the show together.

“We want to celebrate his success together. We are very confident he will win and I have no doubt of that,” said church pastor Julian Naicker.
