Impendle: Cop granted bail for alleged murder

2012-08-21 00:00

A 29-YEAR-OLD police constable has been released on bail by the Pietermaritzburg magistrate’s court after he appeared on a charge relating to the murder of his girlfriend.

Constable Ntuthuko Nxele from Impendle was granted R3 000 bail by the magistrate yesterday.

He is alleged to have killed his girlfriend Bongiwe Ndlovu at Esigodini.

The two had been in a relationship for ten years and have two children.

It is alleged that the couple went out for drinks on the night of Friday, August 10, in the Esigodini area in Edendale, but he left the tavern early as he was working on Saturday.

Ndlovu returned home the following morning while Nxele was preparing to go to work. It is alleged that an altercation then occurred which led to Nxele allegedly shooting her with a service pistol. He will be back in court on September 28.
