Incorporation: Matatiele court case to go ahead

2009-10-30 00:00

THE Matatiele Maluti mass action organising committee (MMAOC) said yesterday that it will not back down in its Constitutional Court bid to compel government to rescind its decision of incorporating the town into the Eastern Cape.

The MMAOC’s stance comes amid voting by ballot that began there on Wednesday by residents in order for government to make an informed decision about where the town will be incorporated, either in the Eastern Cape or KwaZulu-Natal.

The committee wants the town to be re-incorporated into KwaZulu-Natal.

MMAOC’s Mandla Galo said that he had no faith in the process as it was allegedly riddled with irregularities and as such his committee decided to forge ahead with the court case, which is expected to be heard next Wednesday
