2012-01-21 00:00

TWO local ANC luminaries now based in national government have accepted an invitation to return to their home town, Pietermaritzburg to discuss the controversial Protection of State Information Bill.

Deputy minister for Cooperative Governance, Yunus Carrim, and government special advisor, John Jeffrey, will be in the city on Monday, January 23 at Chamber House in the Royal Showgrounds.

Retired Children In Distress (Cindi) coordinator, Yvonne Spain has invited the two politicians. She said the meeting will start at 4.30 pm.

In December, Spain wrote an open letter to Carrim, inviting him to a meeting that she would arrange at which he could explain to those present, “why you supported this legislation that brings shame to our democracy.”

Carrim responded taking up the invitation. If you are interested in attending, please email:, so that the Pietermaritzburg Chamber of Business (PCB) can be advised of the number of attendees.
