Injured fawn rescued

2010-10-15 00:00

A BUSHBUCK fawn faces months of recovery at Crags View Wild Care Centre in Port Edward after it was found hurt in Melville yesterday.

The fawn, which had just been weaned, lay on the roadside bleeding from its head.

It was struggling to see because its right eye had been damaged. It had apparently been hit by a car.

Sipho Shozi scooped up the frightened fawn in his arms, kept it warm in his home and gave it water until the Lower South Coast SPCA team arrived.

SPCA Inspector Collin Chetty praised Shozi for his care.
