THE KwaZulu-Natal Inland cricketers chased leather on day one of the CSA Provincial Three-day Competition match at the Maritzburg Oval yesterday.

Gauteng were asked to bat and old Hiltonian Jean Symes was still there at stumps, having compiled an unbeaten 148 that included 18 fours and three sixes as the Johannesburgers reached 333 for four at the close.

Devon Conway made 71 and Sizwe Masondo 64, while Sinethemba Mjekula took two for 56.

In Durban, KZN Coastal were bowled out for just 91 in their first innings and in reply Griquas were on 131 for five.

All the KZN Inland Premier 50 club cricket was washed out last Sunday.

Tomorrow there will be KFC Inland T20 action at the Varsity Oval, where Standard face Zingari at 9 am and Young Natalians meet Varsity later at 1 pm.
