Inland face Border in three-day clash

2014-01-16 00:00

THE CSA Provincial three-day competition resumes today with KwaZulu-Natal Inland taking on Border at the Pietermaritzburg Oval.

Grant Morgan’s boys won both formats of the game against a powerful Northerns outfit at Centurion to claim a strong finish last year.

The victory in Pretoria sees Inland sitting in eighth place on the competition log, three places lower than the East London-based Border side.

The game — the only one this weekend — will be Border’s second for the year, and they will look to redeem themselves after their batting line-up capitulated against Eastern Province last week.

But, an equally inept batting performance by EP saw them bowl out the Port Elizabeth-based side for 98, with slow bowler Brandon Williams taking five wickets.

Williams will be the player Inland have to look out for as they try to win their second game in a row.

Sunday sees Inland play their first game of the T20 competition, and they will have to find a way to deal with Somila Seyibokwe who smashed 61 runs off 62 balls when they beat EP in a tight encounter last week.

Both games — the three-day game and the Sunday’s T20 — will start at 9 am.
