Inland name unchanged team for Namibia

THE KwaZulu-Natal Inland cricket team to do battle against Namibia in Windhoek is unchanged from that which did so well against Griquas in Kimberley last week.

Last Sunday, captain Kyle Nipper and company pulled off a resounding Provincial Challenge 40-over victory against the lads from the Big Hole, but an astounding late-order collapse saw them contrive to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in the Provincial Three-Day Challenge match that finished the day before.

That said, coach Doug Watson’s Inland lads played winning cricket for 80% of the four days out in the middle at the De Beers Diamond Oval and will be looking for back-to-back victories over the south-westers this weekend.

After four rounds of matches, virtually the entire side have come off with important innings or significant bowling spells.

In Kimberley almost all did well to a greater or lesser degree, but Watson will be looking for match-winning performances from the core members of his side.

However, the Windhoek lads are not to be taken lightly at all, as they have a number of experienced campaigners in their midst who can give Inland’s batters and bowlers enough reason to reach for the headache tablets.

KZN Inland: Bradley Moses, Chad Barron, Tim Drummond, Mbasa Gqadushe, Kyle Nipper (capt), Mario Olivier, Faheem Suleman, Brady Barends, Kimeshan Chetty, Cheslyn Nhlapo, Oliver Humphries, Rudy Hillerman, Devon Conway.

Namibia (possible): R van Schoor, E Steenkamp, G Rudolph, C Williams (capt), B Kotze, N Scholtz, L Klazinga, W van Vuuren, C Viljoen, K Burger, B Scholtz.
