THE Shelly Beach Lions Club has received more international recognition for its work and service to the community.

District Governor Debbie Berry visited the Shelly Lions at a recent club meeting and presented various commendations to the club and its members.

Lions president Charles Taylor and Community Services director Clint Barclay were presented with International President’s pins under the motto “Beacon of Hope”, for their ongoing service and dedication in leading the club in its duties.

Berry also presented the club with a certificate of appreciation for the excellent levels of community service shown over the past year. A District Governor’s banner was presented to past district governor Paul Brauteseth for his efforts in training and guiding fellow Lions.

These accolades come a week after the Shelly Lions received the coveted Shirley Cox Community Services award at the recent Mid-Year Conference in Port Edward.

Berry further thanked the club for its excellent leadership and for flying the Lions banner high on the south coast.

Shelly Lions’ public relations officer, Mark Brewitt, said the club would continue to strive towards excellence in providing services to the community.

“The Shelly Lions wish to thank the local community for their ongoing support at fundraisers and for allowing the Lions the privilege of carrying out the various community projects,” he said.
