Name: Leaveil Eaton aka "Vally"

Age: 31

What’s the latest news from Leaveil Eaton?

My debut album "Finally" has just been released a little while ago. It's an R n B album and contains everything required to be a hit! My management company, Collaborative Entertainment, and I are working on a nationwide tour to promote the album further.

In your own words, how would you describe your musical background?

I started out as a little kid singing backing vocals with my brother Verd for my dad at gigs. From there I joined R n B group Devante' and at 14 years old got signed to a record company and toured the UK. We had a string of hit songs and was, at the time, South Africa's premium R n B group. I opened Miss World at 17 years old and then my career just grew incredibly from there. I toured both nationally and internationally with Ernie Smith, sang and recorded with Bebe Winnans, opened for Yolanda Adams, Erykah Badu, Peabo Bryson, performed at the New Orleans Jazz Festival etc. Locally, I've performed and recorded with Loyiso, Jamali, Verd etc. I produced Mandoza, Jae, Jerusha, Pitch Black Afro, Popstars 101 and Afro Z and even produced a few tracks for the world famous Ladysmith Black Mambazo amongst other big names in the South African music industry. I also produced several #1 hit songs on many different radio stations across the country, including four #1's in 2006 alone. My musical background is very diverse and these experiences have helped to broaden that diversity.

How would you best describe your music and who is your music best suited to?

I would say that my music is best described as "R n B with a touch of soul". My music is suited to everybody that loves melodic, meaningful songs. It's across the board music and doesn't only suit one type of age group or people, it suits everybody that enjoys good music.

What, or who, would you say have been your major musical influences?

Stevie Wonder, Jonathan Butler (Singing for him was amazing!), Joe, Kim Burrell.

What’s the biggest challenge for you as a South African artist?

The airwaves at times seem to be dominated by a certain group of people, the biggest challenge at the moment is that minorities don't seem to receive the same amount of airplay as the sometimes "majority" race groups. This is at times a big problem in the South African music industry.

What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you during a performance?

During a performance one time, I was dancing and singing and just vibing with the crowd, little did I know that a part of the stage at the front was going to give in. I fell off the stage, it was hilarious, but I got up again and carried on like a true professional would and acted as if "nothing happened".

Any plans to perform in KZN soon?

Yes! Kzn is my home and I want to establish much of my music and brand here first. My management company, Collaborative Entertainment, is currently embarking on ventures where I will be performing at all major venues in Kzn. People that love my music will be able to watch me perform in lots of places, very soon. I am also available to perform for any corporate events, government conferences, public gathering events etc. My management company, Collaborative Entertainment can be contacted on 082 354 1384.

What are your future plans?

We going to be shooting the album's 1st music video soon so fans can look out for that. It's going to be an "off the hook" video that promises to have fans screaming for more.

How can people get hold of your music?

"Finally", is available at all leading music stores and Musica's countrywide.
