‘It can’t bring my child back’

2012-12-12 00:00

NOKWAZI Ntuli’s mother, Busisiwe Madondo (57), was not impressed by Rosselloty’s regret over her only daughter’s death yesterday.

“All these years he said he didn’t do anything to her.

“Nothing will bring my child back,” she said.

The mother of the child rape victim was also emotional when Rosselloty was found guilty of raping her little girl. The court dismissed Rosselloty’s claims she had tried to “wreak revenge” on him by orchestrating the child’s rape.

The mother said the whole case has been “devastating” for her and her daughter especially when the child was recalled to the witness stand to undergo further traumatic cross examination.

“She is very, very brave. She always tells me she’s fine … It rips my heart out,” she said yesterday.

Her close friend, Braam van Straaten, said Rosselloty must pay for his crimes and be put away so that he is no longer a “menace” to Pietermaritzburg.

Rosselloty’s former close friend, Candice Hickinbotham who told police when he tried to persuade her to help him concoct an alibi for the night of Ntuli’s murder, was also “elated” by the conviction. “His actions affected all of our lives.”
