2013-07-05 00:00

TO coincide with the 2013 Vodacom Durban July, there are a host of music events at Greyville and venues around the city this weekend.

As part of 5FM’s fifth Durban Takeover Weekend, fans of DJ Fresh and the Fresh Drive team can see them at the Wavehouse at Gateway Theatre of Shopping in Umhlanga from 3 pm to 7 pm.

DJ Kent will also be in the house to perform live on the Ultimix@6 from 6 pm.

And music fans should stick around for a free concert, hosted by Poppy Ntshongwana, and featuring performances by DJs Fresh and Euphonik, Toya Delazy and Pascal & Pearce, after the Vodacom Durban July Preview Fashion Show 2013 at the same venue.

Tomorrow, 5FM will be hosting the official Vodacom Durban July After Party at the Wavehouse, featuring DJs Nick Supply, Classy Menace, Locnville and 5FM DJs Milkshake, Roger Goode, Euphonik and Stephanie B.

Host for the evening is Rob Forbes, who will be looking after things from 6 pm to 2 am.

5FM is also heating up The Miller Boomtown Marquee at the Vodacom Durban July from 11 am. Hosted by Ntshongwana, the event will feature performances from American rapper 2 Chainz and South African artists Dimplez, Khuli Chana, AKA, Vigilante and 5FM DJs Rob & Fix, MsCosmo, Milkshake and Euphonik.

In the afternoon, fans of (Live)5, hosted by Catherine Grenfell, can hear tunes by AKA and Khuli Chana, as well the Ultimix: Weekend Edition, which will be broadcasting live from the 5FM Miller Boomtown Marquee at Greyville Racecourse.

On Sunday, there will be a live broadcast of Euphonik’s My House from 7 pm to 10 pm, and a party with MsCosmo at Joe Cools on Durban’s beach front from 10 pm to 1 pm.

The Eagle Air Village, hosted by MTV, Fish Eagle and Velti Events, will party to the sounds of Speedsta, DJ Benny Maverick, Twins on Decks, DJ Vigilante, Black Motion, DJ Shimza, Black Coffee, LCNVL, Professor, Dr Malinga and Vetkuk & Mahoota.

They join Liquideep and Mafikizolo, and comedians Tumi Morake, John Vlismas and Mpho Popps at the event.

The Eagle Air village is open from 10 am to 10 pm tomorrow.

Tickets are on sale at Computicket.
