Ixopo: Pair get 44 years for farm robbery

2013-03-26 00:00

TWO men were yesterday convicted and sentenced in the Ixopo Regional Court to 44 years in jail for housebreaking, attempted murder and kidnapping.

Zamani Mbewana (26) and Lihle Sisibo (27) attacked and stabbed a 57-year-old farmer in his house in December 24, 2011, before forcing him to open his safe, said police spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane.

Zwane said they forced their victim into his vehicle and left him at Ncakubane road with both his arms broken and tied up. The victim untied himself and went to a local police station to report the incident.

“Speedy” investigations led to the arrests and recovery of all the stolen weapons and ammunition, said Zwane.
