Jake White: Stop changing Boks’ scrumhalf and flyhalf

2011-07-27 00:00

CAPE TOWN — Former Springbok coach Jake White said the biggest problem in the Springbok backline is the constant change occurring at scrumhalf and flyhalf.

White, who has recently been appointed as new coach of the Brumbies, believes that Springbok coach Peter de Villers changes his halfback pairing too often.

He believes the Boks could take a leaf out of the books of their Australian and New Zealand counterparts by sticking with the same combination at nine and 10.

“The most important aspect for me is changing the scrumhalf and flyhalf constantly. What I’ve learnt is that the more the halfbacks play together, the better it is for the outside backs and the team in general.”
