Jewellery heist: two in court

TWO men arrested in connection with a R160 000 jewellery heist at Hayfields Mall appeared briefly in court yesterday.

Thuthukani Danisa (27) and Sphesihle Mchunu (26) were remanded until ­July  16.

The men are charged with holding staff at NWJ at gunpoint and making off with seven trays of jewellery worth R160 000.

They are also charged with unlawful possession of a .38 revolver and three live rounds of ammunition. They will be back in court on July 16, when they are expected to apply for bail. Investigations into the incident are continuing.
