Jika Joe: Woman (21) held over killing brawler

2011-07-20 00:00

A 21-YEAR-OLD woman was arrested at the Jika Joe informal settlement yesterday morning in connection with the death of a man who was found murdered in the area in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Themba David Gazu (35) was found dead with a stab wound to his chest.

The police said investigations at the scene have established that Gazu was drinking at a nearby tavern when he became involved in an argument with two men.

A woman patron separated the men and in the process Gazu punched her in the face.

He left the premises and the woman followed him, fatally stabbing him with a knife in the chest.

The woman was arrested by police at her house and will appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court shortly. — Witness Reporter.
