Joel Zuma to perform at PMB’s celebration concert

PIETERMARITZBURG’S Afrosoul star Joel Zuma is returning home this weekend armed with a South African Traditional Music Award nomination for best Afrosoul album, to perform at Sunday’s Celebrating 175 years Pietermaritzburg City of Choice Jazz in the Park concert, which is at Woodburn Stadium from 10 am until late.

He will be performing alongside Zakes Bantwini, Asanda Bam Xoliswa Dlamini, Madala Kunene, Thobejane, ZCM, Nomalanga Hlubi, Soulful Sounds and Sthembile.

Zuma has been touring extensively in South Africa, promoting his album When the Time is Right. His performances this year include the Ekurhuleni Comes Alive Jazz Concert in May, where he shared the stage with Tshepo Tsola, and the Living Legends Awards ceremony at the Durban ICC in September, where he shared the stage with Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Gloria Bosman.

He also performed recently for President Jacob Zuma at the Matomela Day gala dinner, alongside Judith Sephuma, and has appeared on SkyroomLive on SABC1. Fans will also be able to watch him on AfroCafe on SABC2 at 9 pm on October 30.

Tickets for the concert range from R150 to R500 for VIPs, and businesses can book tables for 10 at R5 000 each, which includes food, drinks and T-shirts. Tickets are at Msunduzi Tourism offices at 033 345 1348/9, Capellos and at the gate on the day.
