JOHANNESBURG — Hip-hop star Jub Jub, who is facing murder charges after he allegedly killed four schoolboys in a drag-racing accident in Soweto on Monday, also has 18 unpaid traffic fines totalling R8 650.

Beeld reliably learnt that seven of the fines racked up by Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye are for ignoring red traffic lights. Traffic camera photographs show the same silver Mini Cooper that was involved in Monday’s accident skipping traffic lights and racing at 85 km in a 60 km/h zone.

Andile Mtombeni (19), Mlungisi Cwayi (17), Phomelelo Masemola (16) and Prince Mahube (17) were killed when Maarohanye and a friend, Themba Tshabalala, were allegedly racing each other in Protea Glen, Soweto.

The two drivers appeared in court on Wednesday on charges of murder, attempted murder, reckless driving and drunken driving.
