Judgment on beachfront site ownership reserved

2012-09-05 00:00

THE Constitutional Court has reserved judgment in connection with the legal battle over ownership of the former Natal Command beachfront site in Durban.

The site was initially sold by eThekwini Municipality to Durban film-maker Anant Singh’s Rinaldo Investments in 2003 for R15 million to develop a film studio.

The sale was challenged in court by KZN businessman Sunny Gayadin’s company, Giant Concerts CC, which alleged the sale was contaminated by irregularities. In March, the Supreme Court of Appeals overturned a judgment by Judge Jerome Mnguni in favour of Giant Concerts.
