Just Jinjer in Maritzburg this December

2009-11-06 00:00

Just Jinjer is back in the country having performed at various festivals in Cape Town and Johannesburg, but KwaZulu-Natal fans need not dismay as C-Weed Productions brings them to Golden Horse Casino on December 3 and Northwood Crusaders Sports Club on December 4.

Just Jinjer will use the tour to promote their new EP Milk and Honies. Space is limited, so fans need to get their tickets early to avoid disappointment.

After a decade recording and touring in the U.S and Europe, the South African rock group recently returned home from their base in Los Angeles, having secured a multi-album international deal with Curb Records in Nashville that will see their music being distributed around the globe.

Consisting of Ard Matthews (vocals/guitar), Brent Harris (drums/vocals) and Denholm Harding (bass/vocals), Just Jinjer has notched up numerous local chart-topping hit songs over the years and achieved two double-platinum albums. In addition, the group has performed and toured alongside the likes of Counting Crows, Stevie Wonder, Def Leppard, Hootie and the Blowfish, Live, U2 and the Goo Goo Dolls.

Durban-born Matthews has changed little (besides a fresh tattoo from two weeks ago) from when he and the band first took South Africa by storm over 10 years ago. Still with his distinctive dreadlocks in place, the songwriter continues to write music that is relevant, timeless and engaging.

Advance tickets, which go on sale on Monday, cost R85 at the Golden Horse Casino and R100 at Computicket. Tickets will also be available at the gate on the night for R120. Gates open at 6pm and the show starts at 7pm in the casino’s Grandstand area. The Golden Horse Casino is situated at 45 New England Road, Scottsville, Pietermaritzburg.
