A VERY high-spirited KwaZulu-Natal Bisley target-shooting team returned from a successful Cape Town tour last week.

The South African schools’ competition was held from October 3 to October 5, ending with a gala dinner and prize giving at the Paul Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch.

The KZN team walked away with 12 medals, awarded in various categories.

The Springer Class was awarded second and third place in the SA Schools’ Competition and Juanita du Plessis (Ferum High School, Newcastle) finished 10th in the Sporter Class and was awarded her SA schools’ colours (silver).

The KZN team was captained by Boyd Dreyer (Maritzburg College) and Juanita du Plessis (Ferum High School). Vice-captains were Marochelle Rheeder (Pionier, Vryheid) and Colin Parkhouse (Ferum High School).

The chairperson of the KZN Bisley team, Louis Lotter was supported by a management team — André Claasen, Jean du Plessis, Rita Myburgh, Nico Roberts, Martin Vogel, Annette Dreyer, Piet Rheeder, John Solms and Grant Freeguard.

Schools that participated in the SA competition were Maritzburg College, Glenwood, Ferum High School (Newcastle), Pionier (Vryheid), Weston and the Ladybirds Club (The Wykeham Collegiate, Voortrekker and Girls’ High).

Well done to every participant.
